The settler municipality in Hebron is embarking on a new infrastructure project to further erase the Palestinian identity of the city and cement settler theft. The 1997 Hebron Accords, signed between Israel and the Palestinian Authority to divide the city between Israeli military and Palestinian Authority control specified that the Palestinian identity of the ancient city must be protected. Any new construction in the city with the explicit purpose of enhancing the settler project is in violation of this. We call on the EU, US State Department and UN to intervene and demand Israel halt further settler infrastructure in Hebron.
To the European Union, US Department of State and United Nations,
We call on you to put pressure on Israel to halt further infrastructure for illegal settlers in the old city of Hebron. Such infrastructure violates international law and Israeli law. Palestinian families and the Palestinian characteristic of the ancient city must be protected.
