Why a Fund

Like with the rest of Israel’s occupation, one of the main tactics used on the Palestinian population in Hebron is to make life so difficult for Palestinians that they are forced from the city. Checkpoints, violence from settlers, arrest of children, closed streets, and a 77% unemployment rate are just a few of the adversities families in Hebron face each day.

Sumud! As one of the main tactics of the occupation is to make life so hard that people leave, one of the primary strategies of nonviolent resistance for Palestinians is sumud (steadfastness). Hebron Freedom Fund assists Palestinian families in Hebron to remain in their homes despite the difficulties they face. We provide grants for children’s activities, repair to homes, educational activities and infrastructure improvement in the old city.  We give people the support they need to stay in their homes until  justice prevails for Hebron families!
